Consulting, building e-commerce company, looking forward to my MBA year

Summary: I started my career with a four year experience in management consulting and I continue to built it in a fast paced e-commerce environment. I am now looking forward to my MBA year at INSEAD between France, AbuDhabi and Singapore.

My experiences, step by step

Eager to jump start my career I joined a consulting firm 3 months before the end of my studies. From 2007 to 2010 I worked as consultant for the CTO of a major European Telecommuniation Operator, in a team responsible for the governance of the Technology Department (350 Mio€ budget, 150+ projects/year) managing the client’s strategic planning of investments. As part of the continuous support to the management, I was involved in reorganizations and in the implementation of product development process.

Looking for an exposure to different industries, in 2010 I was given the opportunity to enter in the Financial Services start-up branch of BIP group, where, among other things, I worked as PM with full customer’s delegation for one of the major Italian banking group.

After 4 years in management consulting I decided to join a fast growing start-up, willing to put in practice what I learned as a consultant. As a matter of the fact, during my experience in Groupon I played an active role in the company creation: I joined the Italian branch when it was a start-up of about 100 people as a coordinator of the sales team of one of the biggest market in EU (Milan area), and, after 1 year, I had the opportunity to work as part of the leadership team which was responsible of the P&L of 5 countries and of managing about 700 people. Since 2012 I had been working as Chief of Staff for the CEO and Founder of the Southern European entity (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece). I acted as a strategic counsellor for the leadership, actively involved in company management and business transformation.

Since 2013 I took also the leadershp of the Sales Operation team in the region, responsible for the coordination of the sales force that spans over 5 countries, 4 line of business and about 300 people. I lead the continuous transformation of the sales force designing the organization of the team, implementing best practices to increase productivity and defining the compensation system. In this role I also represented the point of contact for the EMEA headquarter for the consolidation of the organization across countries.

Apart from my fast career progression I received other recognitions within the company: I was sent to Groupon Brazil as ambassador for knowledge sharing and
 I also received a special recognition for “supporting Giulio and Boris – the two co-founders – in the turnaround of the company and in defining, beyond other things, the new commission system that rules Sales Reps compensation”.

With the objectives to expand my knowledge of the world and to challenge myself in an international and diverse environment, I joinde the MBA program at INSEAD in 2015. Out of my confort zone, living in 3 different continents, meeting people from more than 70 natonalities and competing with very smart people, I am currenlty living an uncomparable learning experience.
